Game two of the Tri-Hosted tournament had Rosalind taking on the Armena Royals for the first time in modern history.  With an A's win, they would secure first place in the pool and advance to the 'A' finals in Armena on Sunday afternoon.

This weekend marked the return of Josh 'Bernie' Burnstad to the Rosalind squad, with seeding done and too windy to spray.  Simply put, Burnstad was the story of the game, on and off the field.  Whether it was diving catches in center field, over the shoulder catches at second, or just crushing the ball, Burnstad indeed added a spark to the A's roster, especially with the banter, chirps and defending Round Hill gumbo.  Bernie produced the highlight of the night, with a booming fly to right field that was tracked down by Jason Buzzell, doubling up the A's runner at 2nd; the fourth time Burnstad ended an inning.

Tyrel Herder started for Rosalind, and threw a typical Tyrel game.  Zero runs, two hits and 2 walks; Herder 1, Opponent 0.  Overall, another dominate game by the A's ace.  Working with the lead, Herder made the Royals earn their way on base for the most part.

The Rosalind A's  travelled to Round Hill to participate in the Tri-Hosted (Round Hill, Holden, Armena) tournament for the first time.  This new tournament gave the A's a chance to see more of their Powerline neighbours.  The game featuring the A's and the Roadrunners was the first game to be played on the newly created men's baseball diamond in Round Hill.

The Athletics sent Dan Enright to the hill, to make his season debut, after the rain out/cancellation of the league game vs. Amisk on Wednesday.  Enright started shakey, however, after the A's were able to get a lead, Dan was legendarily able "to go right at' em."  Enright, nicknamed 'Zam Zam' to those in Castor a few years ago, picked up the win and the 'at bat of the night' in earning the MVP of the game.

Amisk called this afternoon, and due to a shortage of players, was forced to cancel the game tonight in Rosalind. It has been rescheduled to be included in the Rosalind tournament.

The semi-finals in the Heisler tournament saw the Rosalind Athletics take on the Provost Combine Pilots.  Rosalind defeated the Camrose Roadrunners in the quarterfinals, while Provost cruised past the Lougheed Wildcats.

Through 3 innings the two teams were batting through tough pitching and impenitriable defence.  Tyrel Herder got the start for A's, firing bullets and locating his impressive cutter.  Ty racked up 4 strikeouts  through the first 3 innings.  Scott H started for the Combine Pilots, pounding the zone with a heavy fastball from the get go; inducing multiple groundouts and routine fly balls.

The fourth inning was the undoing for Rosalind, as the Combine Pilots put together 4 runs that proved to be more than enough to battle past the A's.  The inning started off with 2 seeing eye singles, and a sacrifice bunt.  Herder was able to sit down Barry Truss with a timely strikeout.  However, a walk and a double (on possibly the only pitch of the game Herder may have wanted back) scored the first two runs for Provost.

Rosalind's top of the order put together a mini rally in the top of the 6th inning, as Steve Enright scored the Athletics only run.  On the game, Tyrel had these thoughts, "".

The A's take on the Amisk Blue Jays at home on Wednesday.  Dan Enright is scheduled to make his season debut on the mound for the A's.  Make sure to come out and support the Athletics.

In the first game of the legendary Heisler tournament, the A's sent Ryan Yuha to the hill to face the Camrose Roadrunners of the Powerline League. The two leagues don't see a lot of each other during the year, so it was nice to see new competition in a game the Road Runners twitter account coined "The Enrights vs. The Banacks".

Yuha was able to cruise through most of the game, locating his fastball and changeup fairly well. Ryan's perfect game was broken up early on a routine fly ball to Nic Ronsko in left field, that should have ended the 4th inning. With only 9 players on the roster due to Slo Pitch and work commitments, Ronsko added "its a good thing Carter (12yr old son of Skip), wasn't on the roster today after that play."

Rosalind batted around in the 2nd inning, as they were hitting holes and gaps between the Road Runners defence. Steve Enright claimed to have gone 5 for 5, with 4 RBI's, but we'll have to check the official scorebook for tampering.

The A's move on to play the Provost Combine Pilots in the semifinals at 1pm on Sunday. The Combine Pilots are hosting the Western Senior 'AA' event in August, so they will be a tough test early in the 2013 season.

Kevin 'Skip' McDonald channeled his inner RA Dickey and had his knuckleball dancing last night, as the Athletics improved to 2-0 in Battle River league play.  Not only did the veteran knuckballer pick up the win, but he also delivered the tying RBI on a 2 out double in the 6th inning.  On his first pitching performance of the year, "we worked the outside of the plate well, and sprinkled more knuckleballs later on.  The weather wasn't great for throwing knuckles, but a couple of them had solid movement."

The Killam Braves sent Barry Truss to the mound, and his curveball was as tight as his new florescent cleats.  Truss kept the A's off balance for much of the game, which included a few solid defensive plays in the outfield.

Brayden Benson got the start for the A's, and worked 5 1/3 giving up 4 earned.  The young local product kept the ball down, and worked quickly.  His defence behind him turned two double plays, keeping the ball game tied until the 5th inning.

The A's rally started in the 6th inning with 2 out and an 0-2 count on Adam Enright.  Two singles, and a walk later, Skip was able to deliver a two run double to tie the game.  The A's went ahead on a single over the shortstop's head.  Skip added, "late in the game we showed some patience and the bats got going against a tough Killam pitcher.  Overall, a very nice win early in the season."

Steve Enright pitched a solid complete game, and his defence behind him made some highlight reel plays for the Athletics to win an excellently played ball game vs. Heisler in the Spring Lake Final. Enright added, "From the first pitch of the game, I knew our defence was sharp, so I pitched to contact and let the boys behind me do all the hard work."  Steve has now pitched 16 innings this year, while only allowing 2 walks.

The outfield of Mark Gjesdal, Tyrel Herder and Nic Ronsko each made game saving catches to highlight one of the best defensive games in recent memory.  Ronsko got behind a fly ball to right field and made a strong throw home to get Todd Steil from scoring the tying run in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Rookie Brayden Benson drove in the only run of the game on a base hit to right field that allowed Tyrel Herder to score.  Benson has been proving to be a solid addition to A's in his first season.

Tyrel Herder and Brayden Benson pitched well, and the bats were connecting as the A's made quick work of the Killam Braves in the semi finals.
